Newspaper: La Tercera and its Supplements

Since I was a Child, I've remember one in special, La Tercera, this newspaper has a direct rivalry against "El Mercurio".

At their origins, was a evening edition of the newspaper called "La Hora", but these newspaper was replaced by "La Tercera", by the decades was orientated for the middle-class readers in a tabloid format newspaper.

In 2003 "La Tercera" adopted its current format, the idea of the directives from the newspaper was a way to reach a high-class public, adopting a more formal language and also a minimalist design, with all these changes they got a more competitive position against "El Mercurio".

Now it's administrated by "Grupo COPESA", also owners of "La Cuarta" and the free distribution newspaper "La Hora".

Personally, my real interest for this newpaper was one of their supplements, the famous homework helper called "Icarito".

This supplement was the perfect help for the students for primary and secondary education, before the internet takes the lead to get the information for the work in class.

I've expected every wednesday to get a new publication of "Icarito" my last collection was the 2006 edition, these year was included the Great Civilizations and the Countries of the World.

The last collection was published in 2009, but still exists, but now as a Website.

Icarito was an important part of my childhood and to get my general culture knowledge, I hope the internet don't kill the phisical publications, maybe I'm not the only one that think the same as me.
