The Greatest Show on Earth

Since I was a child, I had a great fanatism for the Olympic Games, specially at the part of the Ceremonies (Parade of Athletes and Olympic Cauldron Lighting), and obviosly I've followed some of the Chilean athletes who've participated at the Games and became very happy with the Football and Tennis Medals (Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004).

After the Games of Athens I've get the determination to someday go to see the Olympics whatever the city are hosting it, for Beijing 2008, I was very young and I hadn't any chance to accomplish my dream for these Games, in that moment I've never imagined that I have to wait eight years more after these games.

After Beijing I've started to fight for these dream with a more realistic chance to reach my goal, one of my dreams was enter to practice Archery as competitor, but I've never have the chance for economy issues, but I was very lucky and the Archery Chilean Federation opened a free school to find the athletes for the next generation, three years after all of those, I've qualified to the Chilean Archery National Team and I had the chance to get a quota place to compete at the London 2012 Olympic Games, unfortunatedly I've losed at the first elimination round all for my little international experience, I was very anxious for that moment, all these topics made me fail the London 2012 chance, but as you know that wasn't the end.

I was decided to go to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games anyway, qualifying as Archer, as Volunteer or Spectator, the Athlete way was very tough, because the jealousy and the bad intentions made me upset I hadn't improved my permormances to reach the first places of the Chilean Ranking again and go to find the Olympic Quota Places for Rio, so I made a "Plan B", I've made the registration to be a Olympic Volunteer, and have more benefits than a average spectator, and also I've applied to be a Torchbearer.

Finally the plan that worked was the "B", I've carried the Olympic Flame, and with the help of the Chilean Olympic Committee finally I've accomplished my dream to be at the Olympic Games.

It was an amazing experience, and I had a succesión of lucky events during all my experience at Rio, the first was the winning of a ticket for the Dress Rehearsal for the Opening Ceremony at the World Famous Maracaná Stadium one week before the official OC, simply amazing!!.

I've worked as volunteer for the Handball Arena, but I've had the chance to get tickets for more events as Fencing, Basketball and the most important, Archery, it was the first time watching my favourite sport live as an Olympic Competition, I've seen one milestone of the Archery Olympic History when the South Koreans nailed it and won four golds out four, with some friends working for the World Archery Federation, they gave me the chance to enter to the field of play to take photos with the medalists and get their autographs, it was my best moment at the Olympics for the moment, now I'm saving money to reach these dream again but now at one of my favourite countries, Japan!!
